O&B Cafe
My husband and I ended up here after work on a Friday recently. That was some very delicious mac & cheese! And the calamari was really well done, too.

Brunch at the Gladstone
Nothing like a little excessiveness at brunch… Eggs Benedict and Creme Brûlée. Yes, dessert after breakfast. What’s it to ya?

iPhone Photo Essay: Julie's Cuban and Gladstone
I just keep eating. Eating my way across the great city of Toronto. Oh, and I drink. You know, more of that…
Portobello mushroom burger at Gladstone… LOVED IT!
Some pasta my husband ate. He described it as having lots of “flavour.” This is about the extent of his food descriptors.
I drink. Pineapple juice + Havana Club = Cuban deliciousness drink.

Photo Essay: Niagara-on-the-Lake Day Trip
At least once a year, we end up heading to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a day or two. This year, we drove down for an afternoon to shop and eat (mostly pie).
The delicious apple caramel pie from Harvest Barn in NOTL
Hoo finishing off the pie… yes, we ate a whole pie for lunch. No biggie.
Lots of lovely flowers at the park

iPhone Photo Essay: Trattoria Mercatto
On the hottest day of the summer to date, my husband and I decided to beat the heat at the mall instead of heading home to a hot apartment. I’d wanted to try Mercatto since it’s where Rob Rossi of Top Chef Canada was executive chef up until recently. It was good! Better than the average mall dining experience anyway. I like the decor and atmosphere, too.

3 Photos from a Fantastic Meal in NYC: The Loeb...
Yes, more from my weekend getaway to NYC. Sue me!
I went to a lovely wedding in Central Park for two lovely people: My Aunt Kellie and her new husband Gordon. And then we gorged ourselves on an amazing meal at the Loeb Boathouse.
Looking back at these pictures just makes me wonder how I can get back there and have another one of those crab cakes. Really, it was that good.

iPhone Photo Essay: I Love Lego
I had so much fun at the Lego store on our NYC trip that I’m dedicating and entire photo essay to it. It’s such a fun and creative toy and the brand creates a lot of great products that complement Lego and stay true to the spirit of the plastic bricks.
The nerd in me also loves how they put augmented reality on their boxes!! FUN!
The logo… made from tiny Lego men :-)

iPhone Photo Essay: Birthday Dinner
My fiance and I went out to this evening to celebrate my birthday with a great meal atMildred’s Temple Kitchen. I totally indulged, as you can see: beet salad, ricotta gnudi, AND dessert. Oh, and of course we had bread and beer to wash it all down. All class. He had the steak.
Now, I’m sleepy.

Start a New Blog: Check!
I gave myself a task and I stuck to it. As part of my own personal Happiness Project I decided I wanted to start a new blog, and I did!
I have a love affair with houseware items: dishes, bowls, glasses, cutlery, napkins, you name it. And because I’m so into it and spend so much time looking at/shopping for these things, I thought it would be a lot of fun to focus a blog on just that.
So,...

My Happiness Project
As I mentioned a while back, I’ve been reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Ruben, and it has inspired me to do things that will make me happy. My goals aren’t quite as noble as those in the book. This is more about creating a list of things I want to do to make me happier and less about doing things that will also make other people happy. Me, me, me, me!
I’ve drafted a...
