Washed fabric for the quilt I’m making with my mom. This evening we’ll press and cut it.
Next weekend I’m heading home to New Brunswick to see some family and friends. My friend Sammy just had a baby boy and I can’t wait to meet him! I want to make a few homemade items for the gift bag I’m putting together.
This bib pattern is from Martha Stewart’s Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts. I was able to make a couple bibs in under an hour. How fun!
My best friend Sammy had her baby this week. I’ve been waiting to find out if it’s a boy or girl before doing any shopping (it’s a boy). I went to IKEA yesterday to get some fabric to make her a gift and these could work for a boy or girl. I love how IKEA fabric is so affordable and great quality. I have a couple of projects in mind… Hmm…
I’ve been sewing for less than a year, but unlike so many other things I’ve attempted in the past, I actually keep going back to it. I’m the type to buy everything I need to do something, try it once, and forget about it. But I’m sticking with this sewing thing. Go, me!
I’ve only made a couple dozen or so things in total, but I’m excited about doing more, and more, and more. I’m going to another class next week. Aaaanndd I bought some awesome books this past week that are fuelling more sewing inspiration!
Took another sewing class this past week! Learned how to make this shopping tote. It was a fun challenge for something seemingly simple. I’m making a few to give away with my Christmas presents. Hopefully I can be forgiven for my novice sewing skills.
Picked up the latest Stitch magazine today at Chapter’s. Hooray! I’ve really neglected sewing this summer. Too much on my mind lately to sit down and think about doing something productive. I’ve already picked a couple of projects I want to tackle! Time to go fabric shopping!!
YAY! I got an iPad! So I decided to sew a sleeve with some fabric and cotton batting instead of paying for a case. Way more fun and creative.
Since I’m still a rookie sewer, I made a few mistakes and it’s kind of cobbled together, but I love this fabric and it serves the functional job of protecting my iPad well enough for now.

I was super eager to do something with this oil cloth, so I started out with a super simple lunch bag pattern in Martha Stewart’s Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts. The oil cloth can be a little tricky to work with, so I’m glad I tried something easy.
